Katie Bradshaw

My photo incorporated a good angle of view because of the tripod I used and was able to shoot all the way down the street. The photo also includes lots of leading lines with the street going away from the camera, it's all pointing in one direction. I also had good use of light, seeing as how that's all I used in order for this picture to turn out. I held down the shutter button for a good 4 seconds I believe in order for the light and setting to show up. My photograph also has multiple priciples of design, for instance contrast and pattern mostly. The photo has very dark darks, and light lights, no grey tones. The patterns are shown in the repition the the light poles that continue down the street.

I do believe that this is one of the best pictures i have taken. A friend and I were at a train yard walking around when i got the idea to shoot a roll of "A day in the life of a tag artist." by doing this i discovered a whole new side of myself in this project.

For this photo I used rules of composition interesting angle of view (by taking it from above the highway) Rule of thirds (each side of the road is one third from the edge and the horizon is one third down) and use of light (to make the cars seem like blurrs). the main principal of design is movement, by using a slow shutter speed the cars passed while the shutter was open showing movement

I choose this picture because it was one of my best prints over all in photo. The contrast is what i like the most. The leading lines are good and the focus of him on the camera is really cool I think. the pattern of the blanket accents his body style and composition.

I took this photo because it is my dog. I used Cropping and eliminating unnecessary details as well as angle of view to show what my dog Luke is doing.My principle of design is contrast becasue of the dark blacks and white whites. I took this photo while my dog was barking and trying to attack another dog on the other side of the fense. You can see all the detail of his muscles and his anger towards the other dog. I really like all the detail on the fence and of luke. this was one great picture.

I used rule of thirds; the shoes take up the bottom two-thirds of the photo. The lines in the background are leading lines. I also cropped out everything from the photo besides the shoes to eliminate unnecessary details. The main principle of design I used in this photo is contrast. I constrasted the clean, white shoe with the dirty black shoe.

This picture is a photogram that I created to show the concept of Hollywood life, and the pressures to be considered perfect. In this picture my focal point was the models face, with plastic surgery lines on it. This is significant because it shows a beautiful girl wanting to be accepted to society. There is a lot of collage in this photo to help show other influences in Hollywood life concerning: weight, alcohol, and the pressures to being a star.

I chose this picture because it really captures an emotion. In this photo, I incorporated good contrast with Brie's black shirt and the light background. The leading lines are her arms that go out and point back at her face. There is good depth of field because the background is very blurry while the foreground is focused. I was also able to crop the picture really well to show more detail. In this photo, the main principle of design used is contrast.

In this picture I used cropping by eliminating unnecessary details, it also has leading lines, the branches at the top of the picture leads your eyes down the trunk to the rest of the photo. The thing that really makes this photo intresting is the lighting it makes the photo a silhouette. The contrast in the photo makes it really good, the blacks are really black and the whites are really white.

I chose this photo because i think the entire composition is awesome. I really like how it looks as if my brother is fading out of the picture. I also find it interesting how the streaks from the light look as if he is creating them from his hands. I shot this in my basement and instead of using a flash or a flashlight, i just used the light switch and it really worked.

The rules of composition I used were Angle of View (its more interesting from the top than the side), Use of Light (I made sure the light caught not only the shoe but also the rose, while the other side of the shoe is dark), and Rule of Thirds (shoe on the bottom, rose on the left). I think I mainly used Emphasis (the rose is the first thing you see because the the shadow behind it makes it pop, and so does the color).

"NEW GUNS"

For this photogram I played around a little bit with rule of thirds. I placed the full body of the pirate directly in the center of the frame, but used the background image to frame his body. The lines through the photo direct the eye up from the words on the bottom, through the boat which is intersecting the body, and then to the face and eyes of the pirate man. The tones of dark and light came out well through the transparency.
The strongest principle of design found in the print is unity. There are no unnecessary details or mergers, and the contrasting images work well together to create a balanced composition.

In this photo I used several principles of design. I placed the subject according to the rule of thirds (her face and her hand all fall on crossing points of the rule of thirds). I cropped the picture close to her face so that there were no unnecessary details in the backgroundn. I also shot with the light behind her so that it silhouetted her figure. There are also lines leading to her body behind her on the wall. My main principle of design was contrast. Contrasting the brightness of the rest of the photo with her dark hair, eyes, and shirt. I took this photo in downtown Denver near the train station.

This picture was for the assignment "face your fears" and I was trying to show how smoking kills. Some of the rules of composition I did were interesting leading lines from the skull that was overlapped. Also the use of light, in the way that her eyes are darker than the rest of the picture which really adds. The principle of design I mainly used was contrast between an ugly skull and a pretty girl who has a cigarette in her hand.

Spaghetti Hats in Photo 2/3 class

RMCAD cam e for a fun visit and we had a competition to make the tallest hat out of spaghetti and masking tape in 20 minutes or less.

In this photo you can see I used the rules of composition: angle of view (from shooting at an ant's eye view), rule of thirds (my focal point is on the left side), and good cropping (to eliminate unneccesary details from the trees). The principle of design I used was balance (the trees are all spaced out evenly.)
